Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded the first-ever Formula-4 car racing event that Kashmir witnessed.
The racing took place on Sunday (March 17) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar on the banks of Dal Lake with a view in mind PM also said that this will further help in showcasing the beauty of the region.
Under the Tourism Department in collaboration with Formula-4 and the Indian Racing League, the race was organized aiming to promote tourism and encourage multi-career choices for the local youth.
The Boulevard road at the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range is one of the most scenic circuits in the world where a 1.7km long Formula-4 car race was held from Lalit Ghat to Nehru Park in the capital city.

Kashmir Formula-4 Event highlights
The event commenced at 10am on Sunday and ended at 2 pm during which professional Formula4 drivers performed stunts.
Renowned Formula car race drivers showcase their spectacular talent and skills with daredevil stunts and race that will cause goosebumps.The event was additionally monitored through CCTV surveillance.
Youth were spotted in large numbers amidst the crowd who turned upto witness the race after which professional Formula-4 drivers performed stunts. They praised the youth who expressed their interest and wished to make their career in sports like Formula car racing, about the car sports.
Extensive arrangements had been made for the state’s first ever of its kind event which included numerous levels from black topping of potholes, levelling of the race surface to installation of barricades. They even took care of deployment of medical teams with ambulances, fire extinguishers and deployment of adequate security.
“Not only a event of speed and competition but also to spread a message of celebration of resilience and unity”, the organizers of the event says. They say now Kashmir has had rising popularity in the field of motorsports events in the last few years. In addition to these Formula drivers will boost the morale of the youth to pursue their careers in Formula-4 sport.
Director of Kashmir Tourism, Raja Yaqoob, emphasized the region’s rapid developing status with activities such as racing will only boost the tourism in the region. He said that with events like this , we are not only entertaining but also investing in the future of Kashmir’s youth and tourism industry. In addition to that he also said that underscoring the event’s potential to nurture local talent and inspire a new generation of sports enthusiasts with global aspirations .
Deputy Director of Tourism -Deeba Khalid, highlighted the historic significance of the event emphasizing that it will draw global attention to Kashmir and bring more tourists. Khalid says,” This is a momentous occasion for the Valley, showcasing our ability to host prestigious international events and attractive visitors from around the world”.
An event at this huge scale not only shows Kashmir’s ability to host world-class sports events but also highlights the region’s progress and development. Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir- Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, praised the occasion as a symbol of the Valley’s advancement, expressing confidence that such initiatives would enhance Kashmir’s image, boost tourism and stimulate the local economy.
