Sunrisers Hyderabad scripts history yet again as they break their own record on Monday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The captaincy of an Australian player Pat Cummins has yet again proved itself with his team clubbing an indeed massive and appreciable score of 287 with just a fall of three wickets.
With this amazing performance they not only got their name etched in the history of IPL but also broke their own record which they made in this season by setting a score of 277/3 against Mumbai Indians and defeated them by 31 runs.
The 30th match of the IPL 2024 was hosted at the home ground of Royal Challengers Bengaluru on 15th April 2024, in Bengaluru where SRH pitted against RCB to bag their next victory after defeating Punjab Kings in their previous match. The match started with RCB winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. Both the teams created an unbelievable aura leaving fans enthralled by the raining sixes and fours.
The Electrifying Inning of Sunrisers Hyderabad
In the first inning, SRH’s batsmen outclassed the fine bowlers of RCB to muster the highest-ever total scored by a team in IPL.
Australian batsman and SRH’s opener Travis Head gave the team a high voltage start by knocking an unbelievable century off just 39 balls. The power-pack performer of Sunrisers Hyderabad mustered a good sum of 102 runs with a mere 41 balls. With this jaw-dropping batting he also bagged man of the match by virtue of his electrifying knock of towering sixes and blaring fours which left the spectator’s eyes widened in astonishment. Head was seen smashing brilliant nine 4s and blistering eight 6s.
Abhishek Sharma also collected a helpful 34 runs off 22 balls with his two 4s and two 6s. After the fall of his wicket, South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen took up the onus to smoke a heavy 67 runs with 37 balls and also sent seven balls to the stands with his tall 6s and two 4s to the boundaries with his 4s. Abdul Samad also smoked 37 runs off just 10 balls after hitting four 4s and three 6s.
The batters of the Sunrisers set the stadium on fire with their blazing 41 boundaries wherein they smashed 22 sixes and creamed 19 fours. Head’s unbelievable knock left the MI bowlers flabbergasted.
The inning ended with a total score of 287 tumbling down its own record of 277 against MI. RCB’s bowling lineup was destructed terribly by the explosive knock of Hyderabad’s batters as they could not get a good number of wickets, and none of the bowlers turned out economical.
Lockie Ferguson and Reece Topley were only successful in taking wickets for their team. Ferguson bagged two important wickets from Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen while Topley took Abhishek Sharma’s wicket.
RCB’s retaliation for breaking the record of MI
The second inning commenced with a sensational quick-fire initiation by the opening partnership of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. Both the players presented an exciting show of blaring boundaries- 8 by Virat & 11 by du Plessis. While Kohli fell short of 8 runs to complete his half-century, he smoked some fiery boundaries of six 4s and two 6s.
The captaincy inning of Faf was indeed commendable as he stood strong with his team mustering 62 runs off 28 balls with 7 straight 4s and four parabolic 6s.
Dinesh Kartik was seen turning his bat into a power Gun by firing incredible boundaries comprising five 4s and seven 6s. He batted with a run rate of 237.14 and gathered 83 runs off 35 balls. DK’s full-fledged retaliation helped RCB to not lose by a big number and to take over MI’s record of highest-ever unsuccessful run chase against the same team. MI had chased 246 runs while RCB chased 262 but unfortunately lost the match.
Mahipal Lomror and Anuj Rawat were seen rallying behind Dinesh and gathered seven boundaries together for their team.
A commendable knock was seen by the batters of MI, but their efforts turned out to be futile as RCB lost its sixth match by a score of 267/7, a good score but not enough to beat the towers of runs established by SRH.
Hyderabad’s bowlers too faced some difficulty in outclassing the batsmen of Bengaluru but yet collected seven wickets to give a tough fight. Pat Cummins turned out to be successful as he bagged 3 crucial wickets for the teams namely Faf, Saurav Chauhan, and Mahipal Lomror. Mayank Markhande bagged two crucial wickets and one by T. Natarajan. Bhubaneshwar Kumar turns out to be the least economical bowler from his team with an economy of 15.00 after leaking huge 60 runs.
