The event, previously known as Rider Mania, took place in the scenic locale of Vagator, Goa, from 24 to 26 November 2023. INTRODUCTION
The much-anticipated second-generation Himalayan by Royal Enfield made its grand debut at the Moto Verse 2023 event in Goa. This dual-purpose adventure tourer, with a starting price of Rs. 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom), is set to give a tough competition to its rivals, namely the BMW G310 GS and KTM 390 Adventure X. The premium model comes with a price tag of Rs. 2.84 lakh (ex-showroom). Prebooking’s are open for a refundable token of Rs 10,000.
Commenting on the new launch of Himalayan range, analysts at Nomura said that it was a significant upgrade that the auto major launched with attractive design, improved performance, and technology features.
Features
- Engine: It is powered by a newly developed 452 cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine that delivers 39.5 hp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 40 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The new motor is lighter by 10 kilos in comparison to the old LS 411 engine.
- Transmission: The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission with an assist & slipper clutch. The adv features LED headlamp and LED turn signals as well as brake lights.
- Riding Modes: The Himalayan offers two riding modes – Eco and Sport.
- Frame & Suspension: The Himalayan is built on a brand-new steel twin-spar frame. It features a 43mm USD fork and preload-adjustable monoshock, both offering 200mm of travel.
- Brakes: The bike is equipped with a 320 mm disc brake at the front and a 270 mm disc brake at the back. As for braking, the homegrown manufacturer sells the Himalayan 450 with front and rear disc brakes assisted by a dual-channel ABS system.
- Dimensions: The bike boasts a ground clearance of 230mm and an adjustable seat height of 825mm. The seat height can be adjusted to 845mm or reduced to 805mm with an accessory low seat.
- Weight & Fuel Capacity: The new Himalayan weighs 196 kg and features a 17-litre fuel tank.
- Wheels & Tyres: It runs on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, fitted with dual-purpose tyres.
- Colours & Price: The bike is available in a range of colours from Kaza Brown to Hanle Black and priced between Rs 2.69 lakh to Rs 2.84 lakh.
