Roger Binny and BCCI, The Board of Control for Cricket in India formed eight-member group which will be led by Roger Binny on Thursday. the committee will focus on the growth of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
The men’s cricket has crazy fan following, whereas women’s cricket needs to increase their growth, which will be the most important agenda of the new committee. It includes the collaboration with shareholders, players and fans which will give the positive environment to the women’s Premier League (WPL). It will also give competitive environment to players.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is an exciting new venture by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to boost women’s cricket in India. This Twenty20 cricket league, which is set to kick off in March 2023, will feature five teams from Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, and Lucknow. The WPL is scheduled to take place after the Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa and before the start of the men’s IPL season. The league aims to give a global platform to women cricketers from India and abroad to display their skills and talent.
WPL women’s Premier League is going to be held in 2024 for which the auction will be organized in Mumbai on 9th December. the dates and venues for second edition of the league will be expected to be announced soon.
The members of the committee are Arun Dhumal (IPL chairperson), Rajeev Shukla (BCCI vice-president), Ashish Shelar (BCCI treasurer), Devajit Saikia (BCCI joint secretary), Madhumati Lele and Prabhtej Bhatia.

Roger Michael Humphrey Binny is the former Indian international player current president of BCCI Board of Control for Cricket in India. he took over the place after Sourav Ganguly as the president. when India won the first world cup under Kapil dev, Binny was a part of the Indian cricket team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. He took 18 wickets in 1983 world cup series. and in 1985 he did the same by taking 17 wickets.
Roger Binny, a cricketing icon and the current BCCI president, has had an illustrious journey in cricket. Before leading BCCI, he was the president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association and contributed to Asian cricket as a developmental officer in the ACC.
Known for his formidable bowling and batting skills, Binny’s contributions extended beyond his playing career. He coached the Indian U-19 team to victory in the 2000 World Cup.
The Binny legacy continues with his son, Stuart, who represented Karnataka in state cricket and played for the Indian national team.
Women’s Premier League (WPL)
