HD Deve Gowda’s Ultimatum to Grandson Prajwal Revanna: Surrender or Face Consequences
The allegations of sexual molestation against Prajwal Revanna are so serious that they have caused a nationwide outcry. Rape, sexual assault, stripping women naked, and forcing them to film sexual activities on camera are among the accusations.
Former Indian Prime MinisterHD DeveGowdawarned his grandson and Hassan MP Prajwal Revannaand asked him to return to the country from abroad and face the law in the obscene video case.
33-year-old Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of serious sexual abuse, created a national uproar after the woman’s complaint. Allegations include rape, sexual assault, stripping women, and violent filming of sexual acts to intimidate victims. Prajwal Revanna is being investigated by an SIT formed by the Karnataka government on allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation. The woman was working in her house.
“I spoke to the media about Prajwal Revanna on May 18 when I went to the temple to offer pooja. It took me some time to recover from the shock and pain he caused me, all my family, colleagues, friends, and party workers,” said HD Deve Gowda.
Prajwal reportedly fled to Germany on April 27, a day after polling ended in Hassan, where he contested the seat again. His sudden departure, which occurred just days before the allegations became public, raised suspicions. Interpol has issued a Blue Corner Notice at the request of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and an arrest warrant issued by a special court is currently in effect.
HD Deve Gowda’s letter
In a letter to X, the JDS patron says he does not know about his grandson’s whereabouts but has warned him to return to India and face the law.
“I have already said that he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law if he is convicted. I also cannot convince people that I was not aware of Prajwal’s activities. Furthermore, I cannot convince them, that I do not want to protect him. Furthermore, I cannot assure you that I am not aware of his movements and of his foreign travel. Furthermore, I believe in following my conscience. I believe in God and know that the Almighty knows the truth,” Gowda wrote.
He should submit to the legal process, Gowda said, adding, “This is not my plea; this is the warning I am giving.” He also appealed to Revanna to return if she respects him. Karnataka Siddaramaiah has already written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to revoke JD(S) MP Prajwal’s diplomatic passport.
“Prajwal is the son of Mr. Deve Gowda’s second son HD Revanna.” HD Revanna, JDS MLA, is also accused of harassment and kidnapping. He was arrested earlier this month but has now been released on bail.
The case involves a man who accuses him of kidnapping his mother, who worked as a domestic worker for six years. The prosecution claims that recently a video of Prajwal Revanna sexually abusing his mother surfaced and she disappeared soon after.
HD Deve Gowda’s letter culminates in a stern ultimatum to Prajwal: return to India and submit to trial. Gowda warns that if this order is not followed, Prajwal will face the wrath of his family and total isolation. He promised that neither he nor any family member would interfere in the proceedings.
The scandal caused a strong response from various parties. More than 100 intellectuals in Karnataka petitioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the immediate arrest of Prajwal and demanded witness protection measures. They also demanded an investigation into those people who might have escaped in Prajwal.
According to sources, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written several letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) demanding immediate action regarding the cancellation of the diplomatic passport of MP Prajwal Revanna. which was allegedly used to flee the country. Despite these appeals, there was no significant response from the central government.
