Deputy Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis blamed the Congress for inordinate delays in completing the Gosikhurd project, which has led to an irrigation backlog in Vidarbha. The project has been pending for over four decades and its cost has escalated manifold.
Speaking at an election rally at Kanhan with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, Fadnavis said with the help of Modi and Nitin Gadkari, the Union minister, the Mahayuti government has completed a majority of works on the project.
He says, ““We will complete the entire work by 2025. During Congress rule, people used to say that the project is like Lord Hanuman’s tail, which keeps on expanding , but we proved them wrong.
The Southwest Nagpur MLA declared that the government would be coming up with another project targeted for the better future of the Vidarbha region and change the lives of the farmers. “Under Wainganga-Nalganga river linking project, we will be joining two rivers by building a 560km canal It would save millions of litres of water that otherwise goes to sea from Gosikhurd”.
Fadnavis said along with Samruddhi expressway, they were building a new Shaktipeeth highway to connect Nagpur and Goa, which would benefit Vidarbha region in a big way.
According to him, Modi’s endorsement has injected enthusiasm, especially in Nagpur, where significant infrastructuure projects would benefit the region.
“The government had alloted Rs 150 crore for development of Ramtek Gadh mandir. Another Rs 300 crore are earmarked for the development of Dragon Palace at Kamptee. Ramtek Mahotsav will be celebrated every year. These investments signify a significant boost to tourism and development in the region”.
With reminding the citizens that there were only two camps in the parliamentary elections, one headed by PM Modi and the other by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the deputy CM called on the voters to cast their vote carefully.
Fadnavis said under Modi, the Mahayuti government had made strides in honouring Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s legacy, by purchasing his London residence residence and allocating Rs 300 crore for his memorial in Mumbai.
