Tuesday morning took a surprising turn when Supriya Shrinate, the spokesperson for Congress took her X handle to share a cartoon video of Prime Minister Modi, mocking the political party with captioned “Teri marzi nahi chalegi” which translates to “your will” won’t work.
The video posted by Shrinate mocks the BJP government with General elections knocking at the door. Congress used this clever strategy of uploading a comic mocking video on social media which would fuel their agenda of putting other political parties down.
In the video, it starts with a cartoon figure resembling PM Modi chanting the “Mei Marzi” dialogue. The lyrics points out the all the works of BJP till now and portrays it from a negative aspect. The lyrics includes lines such as PM Modi deliberately conducting ED raids, showing ministers inside jails who choose to speak the truth against him.
Further the video points at how the Modi government have been ignorant about the farmers protest and charged ‘lathi (stick)’ as means to stop them. He favors his relationship with big influential people like Andani but when any topic related to ‘Manipur’ approaches he denies to entertain it. The video also targeted the religious aspect which Modi usually follows i.e. constructing and funding Religious temples and mosques but as per the video in the haste of tapping the religious sentiments of the public he forgets or deliberately avoids to address the main concerning issues of the public.
The video also targets the audience by saying, Modi considers the public to be a fool since they don’t understand the hidden agendas of Modi and Modi also takes advantage of the situation and plans his political agendas in that way itself.
In the concluding part of the video, a cartoon resembling Congress leader Rahul Gandhi walks towards the PM promoting his agendas. He talks about ‘joining the country’ which indicates to his “Bharat jodo yatra’. He promises the public to expose Modi’s secrets in front of the public. In the end the Congress leader says that its enough of ‘modi’s will’ now only ‘janta’s will’ will happen.
BJP has still yet to respond to this video allegation made by Congress. But a twitter user has made a counter video targeting the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a similar #MeriMarzi trend with using actual footages of him giving speeches. The counter video included how the public knows his fake promises and the cases for which he went to jail and when the election approaches to visits temples to show his religious side.
This is a popular trend this year adapted by Indian political parties ahead of general elections of cleverly using social media platforms to target other political parties and promoting their owns. Its not the first time this sort of ‘cartoon video’ surfaced on the social media targeting any particular party. In the past too, parties have been targeting each other’s opponents by memes, videos, and old controversial statements.
For Lok Sabha Elections 2024, it began right when BJP posted a video titled ‘Money Heist’ on the lines of the popular Netflix series of the same name, highlighting the rampant corruption during the Congress reign.
Nonetheless, such creative social media strategies have proved to promote their reach
