Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, one of the largest chipmakers in the world on Friday announced the century’s most crucial development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) will arrive soon and that it would excel in all human tests. In AGI, machines can understand the tactics of the world the same as humans do.
Declaration at Stanford University
He answered a question at an economic forum held at Stanford University when he talked about the very likely possibility of AI taking a massive development leap over the years.
“If I gave an AI, every single test that you can possibly imagine, you make that list of tests and put it in front of the computer science industry, and I’m guessing that in five years’ time, we’ll do well in every single one,” said Huang.
AI’s Reach Now
Till date, AI has achieved many things. Nvidia’s OpenAI- ChatGPT was a huge success with currently around 180.5 million users. The website generated 1.6 billion visits in January 2024. As of now, AI can pass tests like legal bar exams but still face difficulties on different special medical tests such as gastroenterology. But Huang said that in a span of coming 5 years, it should be able to pass all kinds of tests.
More Fabs required
As per Media reports by OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman, more fabs are needed.
“Fabs” are chip factories that are still required in many numbers for the industry, says Huang. The Nvidia CEO says even though we require more chip factories- “fabs” , but AI chips are getting better with time and research, eventually slowing down manufacturing. He says,” We are going to need more fabs. However, remember that we’re also improving the algorithm the algorithms and processing of (AI) tremendously over time
However, scientists presume that AGI could be further away as they are still researching how the human brain works. “It’s hard to achieve as an engineer” because engineers need refined goals, Huang says.
