About Ayutthaya
The city has a rich history not only of Buddhism but also have some link to India. it was the capital of Siamese power and was heart of the kingdom, that ruled in southeast Asia from 1351 to 1767. This kingdom is seen as a forerunner of the country we now know as Thailand, and its legacy is a significant chapter in Thailand’s history.
The city of Ayutthaya was strategically nestled on an island, encircled by three rivers that linked it to the sea. This location was chosen for its position above the tidal bore of the Gulf of Siam, as it was back then, safeguarding the city from seaborne attacks.
Founded in 1350, the historic city of Ayutthaya served as the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom. It prospered from the 14th to the 18th centuries, transforming into one of the world’s largest and most cosmopolitan urban areas of its time, and a hub of global diplomacy and commerce.
In recognition of its historical significance, Ayutthaya was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 1991. Today, it stands as a testament to the city’s glorious past.
AYODHYA : LORD RAMA
In a nutshell Ayodhya is the birthplace of the lord Rama and is known for an avatar of Vishnu, who is the great lord of Hindu religion. His Embodiment of Dharma, great warrior and noble king and ideal roles are the characteristic which is heard everywhere in India and read in history. The Rama was the idol we worship as one of the avatars of Vishnu who took birth for many significant changes in society, and it was all in the Ramayana. An ideal king, a dutiful son, and a loving husband. His reign, known as Ram Rajya, is seen as a golden era of peace and justice. the exact time nearly impossible to find but 7th and 4th BCE.
Ayodhya’s rich history is deeply entwined with Rama, making it a beacon of devotion and cultural heritage. The recent erection of the majestic Ram Mandir, following years of dispute, has further solidified Ayodhya’s connection with Rama.
HISTORY : not only Nam, Naksh ka hai Pramann(the evidences are shown in paintings).
The bond between Ayodhya, a city in northern India, and Ayutthaya, a city in Thailand, is truly intriguing. Ayutthaya was named in honor of Ayodhya, reflecting a deep cultural connection between the two places.
Ayodhya is renowned as the birthplace of Lord Rama, a revered figure in the Hindu epic Ramayana. In a parallel vein, Ayutthaya was the center of a thriving Buddhist kingdom in Thailand from the 14th to the 18th century. This kingdom, founded by Ramathibodi I, grew to become one of Southeast Asia’s most formidable powers.
What’s particularly interesting is that despite Buddhism being the dominant religion in Thailand, the influence of the Ramayana is just as profound there as it is in India, if not more so. This is evident in the royal palace in Thailand, which has scenes from the epic adorning its walls.
So, the connection between Ayodhya and Ayutthaya is not just geographical or historical, but also deeply cultural and religious. Ayutthaya, named after Ayodhya, carries forward its legacy, bridging the distance between the two places and weaving a tapestry of shared heritage.
