In a noteworthy achievement, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra has surpassed the remarkable milestone of 10 crore participants in just 50 days, as announced by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry this Friday. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Khunti, Jharkhand, on November 15 last year, the widespread participation highlights the impactful nature of this initiative.
What is Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra?
“Hamara Sankalp Viksit Bharat” unfolds nationwide to foster awareness through extensive outreach activities. The overarching goal is to achieve comprehensive coverage of Government of India schemes in every nook and cranny of the nation, spanning Gram Panchayats, Nagar Panchayats, and Urban Local Bodies. The key objectives include:
- Reaching the Unreached: Extending a helping hand to the vulnerable sections, ensuring those eligible for various schemes but yet to avail of the benefits are achieved.
- Dissemination of Information and Awareness: Spreading knowledge about government schemes far and wide, fostering awareness among the populace.
- Learning from Citizens: Engaging with the beneficiaries through personal stories and experiences, creating a platform for interaction to understand their perspectives.
- Enrolment of Potential Beneficiaries: Gathering crucial details during the Yatra to enrol potential beneficiaries and expand the reach of the initiatives.

Remarkably, the participation count in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra surpasses the populations of significant nations such as Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, and South Africa, underlining the colossal support garnered. According to the Ministry, this overwhelming backing signifies citizens’ unwavering commitment to constructing a developed Bharat.
The central government initiated this drive to ensure the seamless delivery of welfare schemes to the grassroots level, directly benefiting the people.
The Ministry expressed, “From Anjaw, the crown jewel of Arunachal Pradesh, to Devbhumi Dwaraka on Gujarat’s western shore, to conquering Ladakh’s icy peaks and gracing the turquoise shores of Andaman, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra now spans every region, reaching communities in the farthest corners of the country.”
Since its inception, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra has witnessed an astounding 7.50 crore individuals pledging their commitment to realising a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. The Ministry emphasises the Yatra’s electrifying impact on citizens, with this massive participation unfolding within a matter of weeks.
As per government reports, the ongoing drive has already led to the issuing of over 1.70 crore Ayushman Cards and the screening of more than 2.2 crore citizens at health camps. Additionally, the PM SVANidhi scheme has benefitted over 7.50 lakh individuals. In contrast, over 33 lakh new beneficiaries have enrolled in the PM-Kisan scheme. Government officials have organised over 87,000 drone demonstrations to provide farmers with technological support.
The Ministry underlines that the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra transcends being just a march; it’s a compelling call to action resonating nationwide. The ongoing efforts today are seen as a promise for a prosperous future. This movement seeks to empower every citizen, boldly resolving to bring India closer to its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
