Congress hero and party candidate from Amethi Kishori Lal Sharma defeated BJP leader and union minister Smriti Irani from Amethi Lok Sabha seat. Sharma, a longtime associate of the Gandhi family, polled 539,228 votes, defeating Smriti Irani by 167,196 votes. Smriti Irani vacates government bungalow
Former Union Minister Smriti Irani, who lost the recent Lok Sabha elections, has vacated her official bungalow at 28 Tughlak Crescent in Lutyens’ Delhi, officials said on Thursday. Irani was vacated from the bungalow earlier this week, weeks after Congress leader Kishori Lal Sharma defeated him from the Amethi parliamentary seat by more than 1.5 million votes.
The former women and child development minister was branded a mass murderer in 2019 when he freed Congressman Rahul Gandhi.
“She (Irani) vacated his official residence earlier this week,” the official said, adding that former ministers and members of parliament must vacate their government residences within a month of forming a new government.
