The National Commission for Women(NCW) has, through a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI),called for a ‘strict action‘ against Congress Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate and party leader HS Ahir for their ‘lewd and derogatory’ social media posts on actress Kangana Ranaut on Monday.
NCW posts on X(formerly known as Twitter) ,”NCW is appalled by the disgraceful conduct of Ms. Supriya Shrinate and Mr. HS Ahir. Such behavior is intolerable and goes against the dignity of women. (NCW chief) Rekha Sharma has sent a letter to ECI demanding immediate and strict against them. Let’s uphold respect and dignity for all women”.

Rekha Sharma reacting to Supriya’s harsh remarks on Kangana, too wrote on X supporting Kangana that she is a fighter and a shining star. Wishing her all the best and that she is writing to ECI on this issue.
The heated controversy begin with a single post on Monday on Instagram by Supriya Shrinate, who also handles the social media for the Congress. She posted Ranaut’s allegedly controversial picture in her Instagram account targeting Ranaut over her upcoming image as a candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Shrinate’s post read, “Kya bhav chal raha hai mandi main koi btayega?” (translation: what is the ongoing rate in Mandi(market) can anyone tell me?). It was made next to a picture of the actor, who has been field by the ruling Bhartatiya Janata Party(BJP) from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency in the Himachal Pradesh, her home state.
“I have played all kinds of women”, says Kangana
On counter to the allegations by Shrinate, Kangana said, “Dear Supriya ji, In the last 20 years of my career as an artist I have played all kinds of women. From a naïve girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii.”

Clarification video from Shrinate
Hours later, Supriya Shrinate, a former journalist gave a clarification video statement, where she claims that many people have access to her social media accounts, someone from there made this inappropriate post. She further explains in her clarification video that everyone who knows her very well that she could never make personal or indecent comments towards another fellow woman and she doesn’t how this happened and wants to know how it happened,” the statement reads.

Ahir , a Congress leader from Gujrat, gave a ‘similar’ explanation. He stated on social media platform, “Someone who had access to my X accounts posted an absolutely disgusting and objectionable post, which has been taken down” .
BJP leaders Shehzad Poonamawalla and Amit Malviya on Monday slammed Shrinate over a “disguising comment” about the actor Kangana Ranaut from her account-which she alter said that had not mage – and demanded that the Congress leader should be immediately sacked.
Malviya said, “”Congress’s Supriya Shrinate makes an obnoxious comment on Kangana Ranaut in an Insta post. It is so disgusting that one can’t help, but ask – how does Congress collect so much filth in one place? If Kharge has any say in the party, he must sack her immediately or else resign,”
