In the Liquor scam, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approached the Supreme Court seeking interim bail for seven days, saying he must undergo medical tests to determine the cause of his weight loss and high ketone levels, “which could indicate kidney damage, serious heart disease, and even cancer.
“On May 10, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Kejriwal in the excise policy case till June 1 for campaigning in the remaining phases of the Lok Sabha elections. Since then, the AAP national convener has been handling election rallies, and organizing rallies and demonstrations across the country.
However, AAP sounded the alarm about his health even though he was in jail from March 21 to May 10. The parties claimed that the prison refused to give him insulin even though he was diabetic and therefore had fluctuating sugar levels. He was finally given a small dose of insulin on April 22 after prison authorities consulted AIIMS doctors.

On Monday, AAP sources said that Kejriwal developed health problems during his jail term after his arrest, “which is also partly due to the negligence and emotional behavior of the jail authorities”.
CM lost six to seven pounds and developed “abnormally high blood sugar” and high ketone levels, sources said. “The candidate could not regain the lost weight even after being released on interim bail and reforming his earlier lifestyle the candidate may have also suffered from kidney complications and kidney damage,” said an AAP functionary.
Citing Kejriwal’s May 26 petition. The decision to register the case was taken after a home consultation with a senior doctor at Max Hospitals, the official said, adding that the doctor ordered a series of full-body tests.
“Consequently, after a detailed clinical examination at the applicant’s home on May 25, a senior doctor at Max Hospital ordered a series of tests, including but not limited to tests such as whole-body PET-CT to rule out possible malignancies and a Holter monitor test where the candidate has to wear a Holter monitor during their daily activities for a few days to detect cardiac abnormalities.
“These tests must be done in a specific order and take a total of about 5-7 days to complete. Sudden and unexplained weight loss combined with high ketone levels can indicate kidney damage, serious heart disease, and even cancer. Early detection of these conditions is critical for disease progression and life-threatening complications It must be noted that the appellant must pass the test, or his life will be in great danger, the source said.
The ED (Executive Director) opposed the granting of interim bail to Kejriwal in the Supreme Court on the grounds of election campaigns, saying that such precedents were not available. The ED had earlier submitted a fresh affidavit against the grant of interim bail to Delhi CM Kejriwal.
Opposing the court’s proposal to grant interim bail to Kejriwal for the Lok Sabha elections, the ED said, the agency also claimed that a politician cannot claim a higher status than an ordinary citizen and was not entitled to separate treatment.
“The ED further said that no political leader has been granted interim bail for campaigning, even if he is not a candidate. The ED also said that if the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Kejriwal during the elections, it would set a precedent that would allow all unscrupulous politicians to commit crimes and evade investigation in the guise of elections.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener moved the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi HC petition against his arrest and detention by the Detention Department. To justify Kejriwal’s arrest in the case, the ED told the Supreme Court that he was the mastermind and main conspirator in the case.
We have all the evidence against him,” said Attorney General S V Raju, senior counsel, ED. He said that when the investigation started, it was not about Kejriwal but about its progress.
He was named and his role was explained A day after, after the Delhi High Court dismissed his plea on April 9, Kejriwal on April 10 asked the Supreme Court to dismiss his plea against his arrest and detention in the Delhi Liquor Scam Accused Kejriwal maintained his innocence in the liquor scam case and told the court that the time of his arrest is his humiliation and insult and his and his party’s handicap.
ASG Raju said there is enough evidence against him, and he is the main criminal conspirator in the Delhi liquor scam. The Delhi HC had earlier said in its order, “The arrest of Arvind Kejriwal is not against the law. It cannot be said that the preliminary investigation is illegal.”
