Many dreams were on hold as the situation between Canada and India was not on the good terms. The visa services were on hold too. Student how were ready to land Canada as a dream land were wishing betterment in the relation of two countries. Well exactly after two months, e visa services have started.
External affair minister Shankar said resuming e visa services for Canadians by India is a “logical consequence” the statement was given on values stay doing prove situation between two Nations. He added that he Visa services will be provided after a strict verification to insert safety of the name countries and E-visa will provide easy access.
During the House of Commons’ recent session, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed Parliament, acknowledging the existence of “credible allegations” regarding a potential connection between individuals associated with the government of India and the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen and Sikh leader.
The relationship between India and Canada became very bad after Trudeau said in September that his government had proof that New Delhi was involved in the killing of a Khalistan terrorist, , who died in Canada in June this year.
THE ISSUE
” Hardeep Singh Nijjar was born in Punjab, India, but became a Canadian citizen. He was a strong supporter of Khalistan, a separate country for Sikhs in India. India also said he was a terrorist and the leader of the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), a militant group that India banned. India wanted him for many crimes, like a cinema bombing and killing a politician in Punjab.
Two men shot Nijjar dead outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18, 2023. He was 45 years old and had two sons. He was working on an unofficial vote in India for a Sikh nation when he died. His supporters said he was a peaceful activist and a community leader, but his critics said he was a violent extremist and a criminal. ”
CONTEVERSY
After that, both countries took back one of their diplomats each and later India asked Canada to send back more than 40 of its diplomats who were working in India, to keep the same number of diplomats in both countries.
Problem faced by Canadians.
The problem when the visa service was suspended was that many Canadians who wanted to travel to India for tourism, business, education, or family reasons were unable to do so. They had to either cancel or postpone their plans or apply for a regular visa through a third-party service provider, which was more expensive and time-consuming. Some Canadians also expressed their frustration and disappointment with the Indian government’s decision and urged both countries to resolve their differences peacefully.
Current Situation
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that the visa services were resumed as the situation became “more secure or relatively improved”. Minster Jaishankar also mentioned in the UK visit that Indian government is not ruling out any thing. But in case the Canadian government have a reason to make such allegation please share the evidence with us Indian government look at everything they have to offer.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the G20 meeting had nothing to do with the resumption of e-visa. He said that the visa services were stopped because the Canadian situation made it hard for Indian diplomats to issue visas. The visa suspension happened in September, soon after Trudeau publicly blamed the Indian government for killing Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani leader.”
Jaishankar, while addressing a press conference post the conclusion of the Virtual G20 Leaders’ Summit on Wednesday, said that the physical visa was commenced in numerous categories.
