Potterheads, it’s time to assemble! The much-awaited Harry Potter TV series is to reboot in 2026, as officially announced by Max on Friday.
Our beloved Harry Potter trio will be again boarding the Hogwarts Express making their way back to our screen after 15 years since the release of its last film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part:2.
This major surprise will be the biggest news that Potterheads could receive this 2024 who were eagerly awaiting the television series based on J.K. Rowling’s beloved Harry Potter books.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav confirmed the show’s debut on Television as a Series on February 23, 2024, and announced the nature of the seven seasons which would be based on the seven books adapting the storyline in each season.
“We have not been shy about our excitement around Harry Potter,” Zaslav told Wall Street analysts on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call. He shared that he along with Casey Bloys and Channing Dungey, the HBO and Max heads recently had a meeting with J.K. Rowling about the said reboot in London. Zaslav said, “We spent some real time with Rowling and her team”. “Both sides are excited to reboot our franchise. Our conversations were great, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. We can’t wait to share a decade of new stories with fans around the world on Max.”
The thrilling news of the Max Original reboot series was first announced on April 12, 2023, at a press event by Warner Bros Discovery, the parent company of Max. The TV series will be based on the original book’s storyline and no new concept would be included. Each season of the show deals with one book with every detail mentioned in the novel.
Warner Bros shared in their press release that the series will have a “decade-long “ run, but confirmed regarding the change in the cast as it will be a new cast nevertheless assures that the series “ will be a faithful adaptation of the beloved original Harry Potter books”.
This creative idea of pitching the series includes the names of original group members Martha Hiller, Kathleen Jordan, and Michael Lesslie who pitched their visions to Warner Bros, as informed by sources. Additionally, as per sources, Max commissioned a group of writers to create pitches for a series reflecting their take on the issue including Rowling in the pitching process.
