Team India staged a brilliant comeback under pressure to beat South Africa in the T20 World Cup final, ending an 11-year wait for an ICC title. After posting a battling 176/7 from 20 overs, India restricted the Proteas to 169/8 thanks to a superb effort from Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya in the last four overs of the final over.
President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi were among the many leaders and dignitaries from various fields who hailed the Indian cricket team’s victory in the T20 World Cup and its never-say-die spirit.
Both Teams remained unbeaten at the summit and the final at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown lived up to expectations. It was a dream start for India when Rohit Sharma chose to bat. Virat Kohli driving through the opener hit Marco Jansen for three fours in the opening over.
Rohit hit two fours off Keshav Maharaj’s first two overs and India were 23/0 after eight balls. But the experienced left-arm spinner simultaneously sent back Rohit and Rishabh Pant to reduce to 23/2. Things soon got worse for the team when Kagiso Rabada scalped the dangerous Suryakumar Yadav to leave them at 34/3 in the fifth over.
